“I am honored to have Breese Central Cougar Women Basketball Team and Cheerleading Team to the Capitol today,” said Rep. Charlie Meier. “Both of these teams are State Champions and I honored them with House Resolutions to honor their achievements. Congratulations to the Cougars and thank you for making our community proud!”
Breese Central High School (Cougars) are the 2026 IHSA Class 2A Girls Basketball State Champion, defeating Byron 44-28 on March 7, 2026, to secure their second state title in program history.
The school also won the 2026 1A IHSA Competitive Cheerleading State Championship.
To celebrate their achievements, Rep. Meier filed House Resolutions 737 and 750.
