TRENTON, IL – State Representative Charlie Meier (R-Okawville) has announced that the new turn lane at Wesclin School on Route 160 is now open for traffic.
“Years ago, I was told that this project would never be completed,” said Rep. Charlie Meier. “I kept advocating for this new turn lane, and finally IDOT approved the project. The turn-in at the school was dangerous and this new lane will save lives.”
IDOT will continue working to put the finishing touches on the project, but the new turn lane is now available for use. They began working on this turn lane at the conclusion of the 2024-25 school year with the goal of having it in operation by the start of the 2025-26 school year.
“I worked hard to get this project done for a safer route for our kids and constituents who use this road,” said Rep. Charlie Meier. “I’m thankful that IDOT listened to our district and is working to improve the roads in Southern Illinois.”
