SPRINGFIELD, IL – State Representative Charlie Meier (R-Okawville) honored two young men whose heroic action saved the lives of senior residents at the Nashville senior apartments in April. House Resolution 342 passed the House today to officially honor Andy Goforth and Daven Hug.
Andy Goforth and Daven Hug were on their way home on April 23 when they saw smoke billowing out of windows at the Nashville senior apartments. They called 9-1-1, but rather than wait they sprang into action and ran into danger. They entered the apartments and began notifying residents of the fire and helping the seniors safely exit. Because of their quick and selfless action, all the residents were evacuated quickly.
“I’m honored to have Andy and Daven as my guests in the Speaker’s Gallery today,” said Rep. Charlie Meier. “This Resolution is a small token of our appreciation for their life-saving actions. We should all strive to be more like Andy and Daven.”
After the Resolution passed, Andy and Daven received a lengthy standing ovation from the House of Representatives.
