As we begin a new week, I wanted to give you an update on what I’ve been up to around the district and what’s going on around the state.
I’m excited to announce that I have a new Facebook dedicated solely to state-related issues and topics. To follow along my legislative work and representative work, please follow it at this link!
PRO-LIFE LEGISLATION
Last week, I talked about a bill I filed that would give pregnant women the opportunity to have an ultrasound before having an abortion.
The Ultrasound Opportunity Act is about giving expecting mothers the opportunity to see the precious life growing inside them. Radical Democrats have made Illinois the most pro-abortion state in the country. In Illinois, it’s possible for a woman to have an abortion on demand, with taxpayer dollars, without parental consent. It’s out of control. My bill would give women the chance to see her child for the first time, and I believe many women will then choose life after seeing the miracle.
HB1129 awaits legislative action. I’ll update you as this legislative session rolls along.
PRITZKER’S BUDGET ADDRESS

Last week, Governor Pritzker showed just how out-of-touch he is with everyday Illinoisans. This is the largest budget proposal in Illinois history. Make no mistake about it- the taxpayers are going to be on the hook for his reckless spending and upside-down priorities. I’m a farmer, and I know that when times are tough you have to cinch your belt to make ends meet. Instead of cutting government waste, lowering your tax burden, and balancing the budget, Governor Pritzker decided to hold a bizarre campaign rally, deflecting blame for his administration’s failures to President Trump. This budget proposal once again sends more tax dollars to the Sanctuary City of Chicago to further perpetuate the immigration catastrophe that Democrats have put upon our country and state. Instead of proposing solutions that would protect our intellectually and developmentally disabled, grow our economy through reform and good policy, and reduce costs through agency efficiency, Pritzker vowed to continue to lead Illinois down a path of fiscal mismanagement and backwards priorities.

WHAT I’VE BEEN UP TO
While in New Baden, I took the opportunity to stop in at Berkemann’s Baker’s Dozen. It’s such a great bakery!

I was happy to be invited to the family and neighbors’ breakfast at the Thole Farm on Monday. Great Company and a Wonderful Breakfast. Thank you for the hospitality!

I had a delicious chicken dinner in Hoyleton.

I was honored to be a guest speaker at the Illinois Meat Processors Association (IMPA) last week. We have several local meat businesses in the 109th District. This was their 50th Anniversary and I presented them with a HR 84.
DOWN ON THE FARM
My twins that were born a couple of weeks ago are still doing well!
