Today, the entire House Republican Caucus walked out of the legislative chamber to protest politically motivated resolutions introduced by House Democrats. In response, State Representative Charlie Meier (R-Okawville) issued the following statement:
Today, House Democrats decided to turn the House into a political theater and throw a tantrum about President Trump’s policies. House Republicans united and walked out of the chamber in protest, refusing to be used as pawns in Democrats’ political games. We have real issues to discuss, such as lowering taxes, protecting families, strengthen public safety, and getting our immigration crisis under control. House Republicans are ready to do the work of Illinois and will not stand by while Democrats refuse to acknowledge the American people’s choice for President.
