Okawville – State Representative Charlie Meier (R-Okawville) released the following statement after State Representative Carol Ammons (D-Urbana) was indicted on fraud and obstruction charges:
“Carol Ammons needs to resign. Illinois families deserve elected officials who fight for them, not politicians who abuse their position and betray the public’s trust.
“We need to take a hard look at every state dollar and every appropriation connected to her and her committees to find out how deep this corruption goes. The people of Illinois are tired of corruption and tired of politicians who think the rules don’t apply to them. They deserve better.”
The Ammons indictment comes just days after fellow Democrat State Representative Harry Benton (D-Plainfield) resigned following accusations of harassment and an investigation by the Legislative Investigator General.
