SPRINGFIELD, IL – State Representative Charlie Meier (R-Okawville) has been ranked the 3rd most effective House Republican by the Center for Effective Lawmaking.
“When I go to Springfield, I figure out how to get things done,” said Rep. Meier. “My responsibility is to stand up for the people of Southern Illinois, do the work, build coalitions where it makes sense, and stop bad bills when they hurt our families, freedoms, or way of life.”
The Center for Effective Lawmaking, a nonpartisan research group made up of Vanderbilt University and the University of Virginia, recently released their report ranking the effectiveness of legislators. According to Craig Volden, a public policy professor at the University of Virginia and co-author of the study, there are many reasons a lawmaker might be considered effective – such as having strong knowledge in certain policy areas.

“I may be a Conservative Republican in a Democratic Supermajority legislature, but that will not stop me from fighting hard for the people I represent,” Meier continued. “I will keep working to improve the State of Illinois and stand firm against policies to grow government and attack our freedoms.”
