Charlie Meier’s Tire Recycling Event Draws Big Crowd

TRENTON, IL – State Representative Charlie Meier (R-Okawville) hosted a free tire recycling event in Trenton. The event drew hundreds of residents, and a semi-truck was completely packed to the brim with everything from combine tires to small passenger tires.

The event took place at Trenton Community Park, and despite the heat the community lined up to participate in the event. In total, Rep. Charlie Meier was thrilled to be able to help everyone in line, with the final tire packing the semi-truck to capacity.

“The turnout was amazing for this event,” said Rep. Charlie Meier. “Seeing so many neighbors showing up to get rid of tires shows that there’s a great appetite for events like this in the future. I want to thank everyone who came out for their patience as our volunteers worked through the long line.”

Rep. Charlie Meier notes that the event would’ve been impossible without dedicated volunteers.

“I want to recognize all the volunteers who came out to help load the tires,” Meier continued. “Thank you to the City of Trenton, the FFA, the Farm Bureau, and everyone who braved the scorching heat to help.”

The line wrapped around the park before the start time of 10:00 AM and there remained a line until the final vehicle was helped at 12:00 PM. Meier says he plans to bring these events to locations around the district and hold them annually.
