State Representative Charlie Meier (R-Okawville) released the following statement after Governor JB Pritzker presented a virtual Budget Address for members of the Illinois General Assembly today.
“Today, Governor Pritzker showed just how out-of-touch he is with everyday Illinoisans. This is the largest budget proposal in Illinois history. Make no mistake about it- the taxpayers are going to be on the hook for his reckless spending and upside-down priorities. I’m a farmer, and I know that when times are tough you have to cinch your belt to make ends meet. Instead of cutting government waste, lowering your tax burden, and balancing the budget, Governor Pritzker decided to hold a bizarre campaign rally, deflecting blame for his administration’s failures to President Trump. This budget proposal once again sends more tax dollars to the Sanctuary City of Chicago to further perpetuate the immigration catastrophe that Democrats have put upon our country and state. Instead of proposing solutions that would protect our intellectually and developmentally disabled, grow our economy through reform and good policy, and reduce costs through agency efficiency, Pritzker vowed to continue to lead Illinois down a path of fiscal mismanagement and backwards priorities.“
