House Republicans have introduced legislation to protect funding for programs like Meals on Wheels. The bill (HB 5911) will move $25 million from migrant welcoming centers to support the Home Delivered Meals Program instead and ensure our seniors can continue to receive this important service.
State Representative Charlie Meier was added as a Chief Co-Sponsor on the legislation. “I’ve worked with my colleagues in the House to keep BCMW Community Center able to provide critical services to our seniors, like Meals on Wheels,” said Meier. “HB 5911 would move $25 million from money that the state is spending on migrants to support the Home Delivered Meals Program. Our seniors rely on these services, we have to make sure they’re fed!”
