HIGHLAND, IL – State Representative Charlie Meier (R-Okawville) has received a perfect voting record from the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) and the Illinois Chamber of Commerce. These scores were based on a series of bills that came before the Illinois General Assembly during 2023-24.
“I’m honored to be recognized for my pro-business voting record and my commitment to supporting mom-and-pop shops across Illinois,” said Meier. “I’m a farmer, I know that this economy is not working for most of us. Now, more than ever, we need to pass legislation that will alleviate the burden on small businesses. Small businesses are the backbone of our economy, it’s time we treat them like it. In Springfield, I’ll keep fighting back against the bad legislation that is crushing business.”
The Illinois Chamber of Commerce recognized Rep. Meier with their “Champion of Free Enterprise” award. Meier was awarded because of his steadfast pro-business voting record. This marks the third consecutive time Rep. Meier has received this award over the past six years. Meier is one of only two Illinois Representatives to accomplish this feat.
The NFIB tracks the legislative issues that their small business members identify each legislative session and gives a score to each Illinois lawmaker. Rep. Meier was recognized in their report with a 100% voting record.
