Illinois State Representative Charlie Meier (R-Okawville) issued a statement following his vote against the firearm ban signed into law by Governor Pritzker tonight:
“I voted against the firearm ban signed into law tonight by Governor Pritzker as it diminishes our Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms. This firearm ban won’t prevent gang violence from occurring in our cities, however, it will unfortunately diminish law-abiding gun owners the right to protect themselves and their family at home. I look forward to the legal challenge that will lead to overturning this unconstitutional law.”
