State Representative Charlie Meier (R-Okawville) recently met with the Consulate General of Israel to the Midwest at his capitol office. The representatives from the Consulate General of Israel met with Rep. Meier to forge a relationship to expand foreign trade between Illinois and Israel.
State Representative Charlie Meier was invited to meet with the Office of Consulate General of Israel because of his experience as a farmer and his position as Republican Spokesperson on two key committees, the House International Trade & Commerce Committee and the Agriculture & Conservation Committee.
“I appreciate the Illinois Farm Bureau was able to come and assist me during this special meeting with the government of Israel,” said Rep. Meier. “This initial meeting will help connect Illinois’ Ag industry with Israel in order to develop foreign trade between the two countries. During the meeting, I learned that Israel is about the size of New Jersey and they want to make long-lasting relationships by expanding their presence from our coast to the Heartland. I look forward to future meetings with the Consulate General of Israel and am happy to connect them with Illinois’ Agriculture industry.”
