Rep. Meier Encourages Constituents To Sign Up For License Sticker Renewal Notices

State Representative Charlie Meier (R-Okawville) is encouraging constituents to sign up for email renewal notices for license plate stickers.
With the state still lacking a budget, the Illinois Secretary of State (SOS) has ceased mailing out license plate renewal notices in order to save funds.  Fortunately, the SOS has created an email notification system to alert drivers that their license plate stickers must be renewed.
“Now that the Secretary of State is no longer mailing renewal notices, email is the only way to be notified of an expiring license plate sticker,” said Rep. Meier.  “I strongly encourage everyone to signup, the last thing anyone wants to do is pay a late fee or get a traffic ticket.”
A current registration ID number and PIN number are required in order to sign up for the email notifications.  These numbers can be found on the registration paperwork that came with the license sticker.  If a motorist fails to renew their vehicle on time a $20 fee will be assessed by the Secretary of State.
