Today Illinois Governor Bruce Rauner revealed his first annual budget address during a joint session of the Illinois Senate and House of Representatives. State Representative Charlie Meier (R-Okawville) released the following statement:
“The budget outlined today by our Governor gave us a clear picture of Illinois’ financial situation,” said Rep. Meier. “I was happy the budget proposal was delivered on time and included facts and figures. This year’s budget won’t be easy, however we must do what is best for the State of Illinois and the taxpayers. This is the first step in the sausage making process and I anticipate many discussions and proposals will be considered. The fact that Governor Rauner expressed his willingness to work with both sides of the aisle to craft a budget is positive for the State. I am also pleased to hear the Governor did not mention closing Murray Center, something I had to endure from our previous Governor. In the meantime, I will review the proposed budget, assess its impact on my district and make recommendations to the Governor.”
